Introduction of cobalt HL88 (colorless)
Cobalt is used as an accelerator in polyester resins. Colorless cobalt, when added to the resin, has much less color change than regular cobalt and is used for works where transparency is required.
It is a surface dryer and a very strong oxidizer and is usually used together with auxiliary dryers. Due to the nature of cobalt octave, the composite piece made of resin is slightly purple or yellow, which is not desirable in the market. In order to produce a colorless piece, in addition to designing and producing a colorless resin, the cobalt used must also be colorless.
Application of cobalt HL88 (colorless)
- Paint and resin industries
- Casting
- Ink
- FRP
Features of Cobalt HL88 (colorless)
- It has no negative effect on the gel time and curing time of the resin.
- Zinc desiccant reduces the drying power of cobalt desiccant.
- Due to the absence of color change, the final product is produced with the desired color.
- It has higher viscosity and brighter color compared to ordinary cobalt drier.
- It increases the catalytic reaction rate of methyl ethyl ketone peroxide to polymerize unsaturated polyester resins.
Cobalt HL88 (colorless) maintenance and durability
Cobalt should be stored in a dark and cool environment and keep its containers completely closed. Keep cobalt away from oxidizing materials due to the possibility of a strong reaction.
Cobalt can be used for 6 months after the production date if it is kept in completely closed containers and at a temperature below 30 degrees Celsius.
* Cobalt dryer colorless grade is used in cases where the final product must be transparent or white and is used in colorless gelcoats.
