Introduction of Ilkester 340 Gelcoat
The top layer of the composite surface, which is seen as a colored and shiny coating, is called gelcoat. Apart from the appearance of the part, gelcoat is responsible for the following: protecting the surface of composite parts against wear, corrosion, chemicals, water and air and ultraviolet rays of the sun.
In other words, gelcoat is the most vital part of a composite part, even though gelcoat has the lowest amount of consumption compared to other raw materials for the production of composite parts, the lifespan of composite parts and their proper performance depends on the correct choice of gelcoat and its usage method.
It is an isophthalic/NPG based thixotropic coating that contains an accelerator.
