Aluminum powder

Aluminum powder refers to small and crushed aluminum particles. This substance has high reactivity with oxygen and its melting point reaches 660 degrees Celsius. Aluminum powder does not dissolve in water and does not decompose in dry conditions. Its density is less than that of many other metals, about one-third that of steel. This element has a great affinity for oxygen and creates a protective oxide layer on its surface when exposed to air. In terms of appearance, color and light reflection ability, aluminum powder is very similar to silver.

Applications of aluminum powder in the composite industry

Aluminum powder with a grain size of 20 microns is commonly used to make epoxy base gelcoats. After applying the gelcoat on the surface, due to the heavier weight of this powder compared to the resin, it settles and creates a metallized layer on the surface, which increases the resistance of the gelcoat. This feature prevents the mold gelcoat from being damaged during the production of multiple parts.

Other applications

Aluminum powder is used in various industries, including:

Cosmetic industry: as a metallic silver pigment in cosmetic products.
Crime identification: as fingerprint powder to identify criminals.
Rocket and rocket fuel: as part of special fuels.
Refractory materials: production of refractory materials.
Autoclaved aerated lightweight concrete (AAC): for the production of lightweight concrete blocks.
Automotive industry: various other applications.

In general, this product is one of the widely used materials in various industries, especially the composite industry.
